Our Mission

Wayne State University Press is a distinctive urban publisher committed to supporting its parent institution’s core research, teaching, and service mission by generating high quality scholarly and general interest works of global importance. Through its publishing program, the Press disseminates research, advances education, and serves the local community while expanding the international reputation of the Press and the University.

Wesleyan University Press

Wesleyan University Press has an editorial program that focuses on poetry, music, dance, science fiction studies, film-TV, and Connecticut history and culture. Publishing in its current form since 1957, the press has published an internationally renowned poetry series, collecting five Pulitzer Prizes, a Bollingen, and three National Book Awards in that one series alone. The mission of the press is to develop and maintain a sound and vigorous publishing program that serves the academic ends and intellectual life of the university and beyond.

In 2018 Wesleyan acquired titles published by Paris Press (1995–2018). Paris Press was founded with the mission of publishing groundbreaking yet overlooked literature by women and educating the public about its books and authors. Wesleyan is proud to keep these important books in print.

What Books Press

F  P

What Books Press A NPO What Books Press was founded in 2009 by a small group of like-minded writers and artists in Los Angeles. We came together in order to get an outlet for groundbreaking fiction and poetry with extraordinary art on the cover. Since then we have published a list of titles by known and unknown authors, public readings, good reviews, awards, and general recognition have followed. Now, with grattitude and inspiration, we move forward, each year publishing works that thrill us with a bending of literary expectations, or a striking use of language, or a poignant position on our current human condition… or ideally all three. Welcome to our website, where we were invite you to dive in, explore, consider reading, consider submitting, and, to keep up to day, follow us on Twitter @whatbookspress.

Whiskey Tit

F  P

Whiskey Tit attempts to restore degradation and degeneracy to the literary arts. We are unwilling to sacrifice intellectual rigour, unrelenting playfulness, and visual beauty, often leading to texts that would otherwise be abandoned in a homogenised literary landscape. In a world gone mad, our refusal to make this sacrifice is an act of civil service and civil disobedience alike, and our work reflects this. We welcome like-minded readers and writers.
Let me elaborate…
I came to publishing in a peculiar way, reading a book serialized straight from the author in email, Jon Frankel’s The Man Who Can’t Die. You can read more about that experience here, but the gist is, and continues to be, me being absolutely floored by a book, only to discover it won’t get picked up by traditional publishers. This is usually because the works don’t fit neatly into genre/length/media packages. We proudly publish books that are too long or too short, books in which the authors insist upon no back cover blurbs, books whose best genre descriptions might be “comedy of terror,” “memnoir,” “randy seafaring misadventure,” or “low-tech noir.” We want to hear from you, honestly. If you have a wonderful book in need of a literary wet nurse, please contact us.

White Pine Press

F  P

Just as Persephone took a bite into that fateful pomegranate, The Bowhunter & The Taxidermist took a bite out of poetry, letting its oozing blood touch the soft lap of our lips before transferring ourselves into the great nexus.
We are here for the poetry, for poetry’s sake; for the emotive experience of language & form into the imaginatarium of the psyche. We humbly invite the dramatic, the strange, the deadly swirls of mythology & folklore, the magical expanse of the Otherworld that confounds us so. White Stag aims to bring forth the imagination in a way that impacts our readers & encourages the imagination of others to flourish.
Founded in 2013 & based in Phoenix, Arizona, White Stag publishes print anthologies, online journals, chapbooks, & full length poetry books. Our anthologies include a thematic element to help inspire writings from people of various backgrounds. Our catalog of poetry books may be small, but it is ferocious.
Email for any & all inquiries. Please do not send us unsolicited manuscripts.

We offer all bookstores 45% off retail price for 3 or more books – email to inquire.

A World of Voices

White Pine Press is a non-profit literary publisher, established in 1973, which publishes poetry, fiction, essays, and literature in translation from around the world. For the past thirty years we have been at the forefront in bringing the rich diversity of world literature to the English speaking audience. We seek to enrich our literary heritage; to promote the cultural awareness, understanding, and respect so vital in our rapidly changing world; and to address complex social and human rights issues through literature.

“In a publishing world dominated by celebrity books and glitzy bestsellers, White Pine Press titles are refreshing anomalies. White Pine Press has published Nobel Prize laureates William Golding, Pablo Neruda, Juan Ramon Jimenez, and Gabriela Mistral. Its distinguished roster also includes Robert Bly, Maurice Kenny, William Matthews, and James Wright, all winners of the American Book Award, the National Book Award, or the Pulitzer Prize. White Pine’s commitment to international literature is reflected in its publication of acclaimed writers including John Montgague of Ireland, Tomaz Transtromer of Sweden, Antonio Machado of Spain, Alfonsina Storni of Argentina, and Rolf Jacobsen of Norway. White Pine also consistently champions both established and emerging American writers.”
